Film News This Week

More evidence that young French directors are increasingly filming in English or with English-speaking stars in order to reach a global audience.

Michael Moore's film fest isn't the political event you might think. Basically he's just using his name to book a bunch of high-quality indie (and even Hollywood) movies in Traverse City, movies that don't normally play outside large urban areas.

Rodrigo Garcia (the amazing Nine Lives) is working with Mark Wahlberg on a new HBO tv show.

Simon Pegg to be directed by, ugh, David Schwimmer

David Cronenberg will next direct "Maps to the Stars," a Bruce Wagner-scripted darkly comic drama about Hollywood excess and intrigue.
