I came across a bunch of new books today all about writers and their ideas, all compulsively browseable and interesting:

The Story behind the Story: 26 Stories by Contemporary Writers and how They Work ed. by Peter Turchi & Andrea Barrett is an anthology of stories along with brief pieces by the authors on what inspired them. Hear Us out: Conversations with Gay Novelists by Richard Canning is a sequel to Gay Fiction Speaks: Conversations with Gay Novelists. The books are collections of conversations with notable gay authors like Cooper, White, Leavitt, Cunningham, etc. (The editor hopes to bring out a third volume.) Unknown Masterpieces: Writers Rediscover Literature's Hidden Classics is a collection of essays that were written as introductions to the NYRB Classics series, which I've heard some great things about.
